MSU rallies in final inning to knock off Ole Miss 5-3

OXFORD – Mississippi State infielder Heidi Sharpe delivered a three-run double in the seventh inning to lift the Lady Bulldogs to a 5-3 win against Ole Miss on Friday.

MSU (23-19, 6-14 SEC) trailed 3-1 with two outs in the last inning before mounting a rally. All five of the Bulldogs’ runs came with outs.

Sharpe, who had a pair of hits, tied a career-high with four RBI.

Pitcher Kylie Vry (8-6) retired 10 consecutive batters in relief for MSU with five strikeouts.

Kendall Bruning (12-12) took the loss for Ole Miss (16-22, 3-12).

The second game of the series is today at 2 p.m.
