MSU senior Ilyushin named SEC Player of the Week

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State senior tennis player Artem Ilyushin has earned men’s SEC Player of the Week honors for the second time this spring.

Ilyushin, who is ranked No. 12 in the nation, clinched the Bulldogs’ win over Ole Miss last weekend with a victory in No. 1 singles. MSU claimed its second consecutive SEC Western Division championship.

Ilyushin is 9-2 in conference play and a 15-5 in dual matches. He has beaten seven players in the top 40 this spring.

The Bulldogs host the SEC Championship beginning on Friday, and enter the event as the No. 3 seed.
