Soundwave celebrates emotions

with ‘Seasons of the Soul’

Songs by Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, ABBA and The Bangles are on the set list for Tupelo High School’s Soundwave show, called “Seasons of the Soul.”

The shows are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Performing Arts Auditorium on the THS campus.

Tickets are $7/advance, $8/door.

‘Casablanca’ hits big screen

again for anniversary at Cinemark

The classic film “Casablanca,” starring Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart, turns 70 this year and already there has been a big-screen celebration in its honor.

It’s back by popular demand.

“Casablanca” will be shown at the Cinemark at 7 p.m. April 26 at the Cinemark in Tupelo.

Literature, music combine

at Offutt event at Powerhouse

Vox Press Artists series presents “An Evening with Chris Offutt” at 7 p.m. Monday at the Powerhouse in Oxford.

Offutt has written several award-winning books such as “Kentucky Straight,” “The Same River Twice” and “Out of the Woods.” He’s also written for TV shows like “True Blood,” “Weeds” and “Treme.”

The event will feature readings from Offutt’s work, as well as music by the Yodeling Anarcho Syndicalists featuring Betsy Chapman, Tyler Keith and more. There’ll also be a raffle for a rare, signed Ole Miss football print by Glennray Tutor.

It’s free, with donations accepted.

Pride of the South benefit show

set for Tuesday at Ford Center

The 12th annual Pride of the South benefit concert will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ford Center at Ole Miss.

The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of David Willson, will perform a traditional Sousa march, a trumpet solo feature and other contemporary band music. There will be a reception in the Ford Center’s foyer at 6:45 p.m.

It’s free, with donations accepted.
