LSU 5, Kentucky 4: Sophomore right-hander Kevin Gausman struck out 11 in seven innings and shortstop Austin Nola drove in three runs for the Tigers (32-7, 12-4), who took over the overall league lead.

LSU is 8-2 in one-run SEC games this season.

Kentucky (33-6, 11-5) dropped a SEC series-opener for the third time this season and is 4-4 in its last eight games.

Florida 3, Georgia 2: The teams went to the 16th inning tied at 2 just before 11 p.m. and the Gators (30-8, 10-6) won on dropped third strike that the Gaorgia catcher threw over the first baseman’s head.
