TUPELO – A Tupelo home was destroyed in an early-morning house fire Sunday.

David Blackwell, battalion chief for the Tupelo Fire Department, said the fire at 2603 Pemberton Ave. began about 1:30 a.m.

“When firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were already coming of the west end of the roof,” Blackwell said. “The house is a total loss.”

Blackwell said the occupant of the home was at home at the time of the fire, but escaped unharmed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
