BOONEVILLE – A Booneville man was reportedly shot and killed Monday night by a police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call.

The call to Prentiss County 911 was received abut 9:38 p.m., said police Chief Michael Ramey.

Officers responded to the residence at 201 Stanley Street Extended, where a suspect was shot one time, Ramey said.

The shooting victim was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville, where he was later pronounced dead. Family members at the scene of the shooting identified the victim as David Curtiss, 45, of Booneville.

The case has been turned over to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Ramey said, and they will need to answer any further inquiries.
