“I feel like we are continuing to grow spiritually and in numbers,” said Ryan Spencer, associate pastor and youth and children’s minister.
Spencer said he felt called to preach in Mantee because he grew up there and feels close to the community.
“I wanted to show them how Christ changed my life and could change theirs too,” he said.
Youth Discipleship Groups meet weekly, and Spencer said the focus is on “growing closer to the Lord.”
His wife, Tara, teaches the girls, and he teaches the boys; however, they encourage the older youth to lead and disciple the younger children.
“Putting it into practice,” Spencer said, “Making disciples of the youth.”
The youth currently do summer missions in the states, but Spencer hopes they will eventually be able to do mission work overseas and “spread the word to the nations.”
The church also helps in the community by gathering items and working two days a week at the Webster County food pantry.
Spencer described the congregation as loving and caring.
“It’s like being a part of a big family,” he said.
