Smith and William Paul Muller, 54, of Morgan City are charged with conspiracy to commit murder and being held without bond at the Leflore County Jail for their alleged roles in a plot to kill Greenwood attorney Lee Abraham. At least 17 cars, many of which appeared to be unmarked police cars, were parked outside the residence at about 7:40 p.m., as officers entered and left. Dr. Ralph Arnold Smith was arrested Sunday and is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and capital murder. He made an initial court appearance Tuesday.
Authorities say Keaira Byrd, and Derrick Lacy went to Lee Abraham's law office Saturday night, where agents from the Mississippi attorney general's office were waiting. Byrd was killed during a shootout. Lacy was wounded in the lower back.
Abraham was not hurt, but a bullet grazed the leg one of the investigators.
