Doctor killed riding bike on Natchez Trace

KOSCIUSKO — An Attala County doctor was struck by a vehicle and killed as he rode his bike on the Natchez Trace.

Coroner Sam Bell tell The Clarion-Ledger Dr. Gary Holdiness of Kosciusko was riding his bike about 3 miles south of Kosciusko, when he was hit by a truck.

Bell said the 54-year-old Holdiness was pronounced dead at the scene around 1 p.m. Sunday.

National Park Service officials said the truck driver was not injured.
