State of the Region meeting set May 31

TUPELO - The CREATE Foundation's Commission on the Future of Northeast Mississippi will host its 16th annual State of the Region meeting at 9:30 a.m. on May 31 at the BancorpSouth Conference Center in Tupelo.

Jim Barksdale, the interim executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority, will relate his ideas for improving education in Mississippi. He will also detail how adult educational attainment is affecting our regional economy.

Northern District Transportation Commissioner Mike Tagert will give his vision for transportation in the region. Education consultant Mike Ward will also address the state of education and offer a peek at the future.
