Iuka post office honors soldier who died in Iraq

IUKA – Auston Everet Curtis, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Tishomingo Manor. He was the longtime owner of Curtis Furniture. He was an alderman for the City of Iuka for several years and an employee of the Iuka Post Office for four years. He was a member of Iuka Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with dr. Ronnie Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Curtis of Iuka; one son, Mike Curtis (Debbie) of Iuka; one daughter, Cindy O’Daniel (Charles) of Hixson, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Bryan Curtis (Kim), Kim Curtis and Catrece Wileman; a stepgranddaughter, Shannon King; six great-grandchildren, Josh Pruitt, Jake Pruitt, Elley Curtis, Noah Curtis, Sydney Wileman and Ian Wileman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ruby Curtis; a brother, Clifton Curtis; a sister, Mary Etta Boswell; and a grandson, Casey Walker.
