TUNICA — Bond was set at $1.25 million Monday for a north Mississippi man charged in a highway shooting case and another alleged attack.

Authorities say 28-year-old James Willie remained in the Tunica County Jail after a Justice Court judge set bond during his initial court appearance.

A sheriff's department employee says Willie's bond was set at $1 million on a murder charge and $250,000 on other charges he faces, including rape and kidnapping.

On May 11, a casino worker was found dead in her car on Mississippi Highway 713 after she had worked a late shift.

Willie is charged in the alleged abduction and rape of a different woman.

He was also expected to be charged in Panola County in the May 8 slaying of a Nebraska motorist on Interstate 55.
