TUPELO – Tourism sales tax revenues jumped 24.2 percent in February, according to information from the Tupelo Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The city collected $374,800 in February, compared to $301,697 in February 2011.

Kim Hanna, the city clerk, said she doesn’t know of a single month in which the revenues have been that much.

She attributed the growth to Valentine’s Day activities and to spending related to the state Beta Club convention in Tupelo.

February posted the second largest monthly increase in this fiscal year. September had the

biggest jump of 27 percent.
