CORINTH – As circuit clerk’s offices around the state have become accustomed to using electronic voting machines, more and more of them are discontinuing use of external vote printer modules, a redundant feature.

The Alcorn County Board of Supervisors this week approved the request of Circuit Clerk Joe Caldwell to return the unused Accu Vote Printer Modules, spindles and canisters to Premier Election Systems, which has agreed to give the county a refund credit to be used for future purchases.

Caldwell did not give the amount of the refund credit, but said it had required persistence to get the refund. Caldwell said his early efforts, by comparison with other counties, may have garnered a financial benefit for the county that others seeking a similar refund in the future may not get.
