GREENVILLE — The city of Greenville has approved a social media policy for its employees.

The Delta Democrat Times reports that the policy prohibits some online activities such as disparaging city services, leaders and other workers; making any false statements; promoting violence; and posting or sharing any recording or images from the workplace or a city-sponsored event without prior approval.

Mayor Chuck Jordan says the policy will be added to the employee handbook, which all workers receive.
