TUPELO – Tupelo Elvis Festival organizers said this year’s event set a new attendance record.

Debbie Brangenberg said Thursday that preliminary figures are 11,000 for the entire weekend. The figures include the Fairpark events, the Elvis tribute artist events at the Lyric, the carnival, the gospel event and the race.

Attendance was up 80 percent for the Fairpark events.

Brangenberg said Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association,

which produces the event, is still crunching numbers for the early-June

event. It expects to release net earnings information in July or August.
