On the fifth day of preseason camp, the Bulldogs will get to work at the South Farm practice fields on the edge of campus. It's also the first day in full pads, which means coaches can start doing some real evaluating.
Coach Dan Mullen said he is eager to see who embraces contact, and he drew an interesting analogy.
"It's like driving over the George Washington Bridge going into New York City. You're either really scared or you're really excited," he said. "Most people, you get very few reactions where you see people say, 'Yeah, I can take it or leave it, whatever.' I love it or I hate it.
"It's got that big-city, excitement feel to it. So, when you put the pads on, you either love it or you hate it."
Today is also MSU's preseason media day, when Mullen and several assistant coaches and players will meet the press.
MSU begins two-a-days on Wednesday. All practices are closed to the public.
