CORINTH - Alcorn County will not renew its contract with Three Rivers Planning and Development District to support and maintain its electronic filing system.

Instead, supervisors voted this week to allow the contract to expire in April and use Delta Computer Systems of Gulfport to provide the services.

Although the county signed the contract with Three Rivers three years ago, along with 14 other counties, the computer systems to file chancery and circuit court documents and accounting summaries online have never been fully functional.

Circuit Clerk Joe Caldwell asked the board of supervisors to approve a contract for the services with Delta, the company which provided service before the Three Rivers contract.

Delta has continued to provide a number of services to county offices in the interim which have been unavailable from Three Rivers, Caldwell and Tax Collector Greg Younger said.

Crystal Starling of the circuit clerk's office and 2nd District Supervisor Jeff Patterson have been trying unsuccessfully since last year to get resolution of the county's problems through Three Rivers.

Three Rivers Executive Director Randy Kelley denied last month that the source of the problem is Three Rivers, saying the county had only recently gotten the hardware it needed, and the required software must be obtained through Mississippi State University.

The contract with Three Rivers required an annual payment of almost $14,000, plus monthly maintenance fees of almost $200.

Caldwell said transferring data from Three Rivers to Delta will cost $4,000; the annual payment to Delta will be $11,200; and monthly maintenance $260.
