The Mantachie Lady Mustangs hosted the IAHS Lady Indians last week for a friendly in-county rival game.
Taylor Barber and Katlyn Nolan went head-to-head from the rubber, but it was the Lady Indians who struck first.
In the first inning, the Lady Indians took a 1-0 lead on Nolan, reaching on a single and scoring a runner from third.
The Lady Indians added to their lead in the top of the second on an RBI single by Megan Hill.
The 2-0 lead didn't hold, as Callie Lindsey hit a RBI single, and Lexie WIlliams scored a run on an error in right.
In the top of the fourth, the Lady Indians got a run, courtesy of the inside-the-park home run by Hill.
The Lady Mustangs trailed 3-2 but answered in the bottom of the fourth with two runs off an error and a ground out.
The Lady Indians tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the fifth, but the Lady Mustangs plated two runs off a Lindsey double and an Allisa Patterson single.
The Lady Mustangs added another run in the inning by stealing home after the runner on first got into a rundown.
Leading 7-4, the Lady Mustangs extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth by scoring runs on a ground out and a throwing error by the Lady Indians.
The Lady Indians trailed 9-4 and were down to their final three outs. They scored four runs on two swings of the bat as Shannon Loague and Nolan hit singles. Miranda Krause grounded out to short but pushed the tieing run across the plate.
With the game tied at 9-9, the Lady Mustangs came up to bat in the bottom of the seventh.
Barber stepped up and hit a RBI single to center to give the Lady Mustangs a 10-9 victory.
Both teams were in action Thursday night as well. The Lady Indians defeated Belmont 3-2 with some last inning heroics while the Lady Mustangs fell 8-3 on the road to Saltillo.
On Saturday, both teams will be competing in the Tupelo Tournament.
