n The Calhoun City Wildcats saw their dream of a State Championship come to an end Saturday as they took a 61-52 loss to the Hawks of Myrtle in Jackson.

The Wildcats battled back from a first-half deficit to take a 47-43 lead in the fourth quarter, but couldn't sustain it. Senior Brandon Lawrence fouled out late in the fourth and Coach Darren Coffey said the loss was large for the team.

"It broke our morale when he fouled out," Coffey said.

Charlie Easley led the scoring for Calhoun City with nine points.
