The Alcorn County Board of Supervisors and the Corinth Board of Aldermen will meet in a special session at 9 a.m. Monday in the city hall meeting room.
According to the law that established Corinth's 2 percent tourism tax, which funds the CVB and pays the note on the Crossroads Arena, if the two bodies do not approve the tourism council's submitted budget, they must meet jointly to resolve any issues.
The CVB's initial budget request, submitted in early August, was for $567,000 for FY2013, which begins Oct. 1.
After pressure from county and city board members to reallocate $250,000 of their budget to the Crossroads Arena, the CVB board/Tourism Council voted last week to submit a compromise budget.
The new budget allocated $150,000 to be divided equally between marketing, promotion and capital projects of the Crossroads Arena and Crossroads Regional Park, the two jointly-operated agencies that county and city officials have said would ultimately benefit from funds the county and city would no longer give to the arena.
While two members of the city board, and apparently the mayor, city clerk and city attorney, have been meeting with two members of the county board to decide how they would like to spend the CVB's budget, Aldermen Michael McFall, Ben Albarracin and Mike Hopkins said they still had not been provided with enough information about how transferring funds from the CVB's budget to the arena would further plans to expand Crossroads Regional Park.
