VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) — Students with parking passes at Vicksburg Warren School District may be subject to random drug testing under a proposal under study by the school board.

The Vicksburg Post reports (http://bit.ly/R5GNJ4) that the proposal was presented to the board this week by Superintendent Elizabeth Swinford.

The current policy allows for random drug tests from any student involved in extracurricular activities. It also allows drug testing for students who appear intoxicated.

Swinford says the new policy addresses potential problems with allowing students, who might have drugs in their systems, to park on campus.

The proposal was up for discussion only and will be discussed again at the board's October meeting.
