Oct. 6 at noon is the deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 elections, if you’re not already registered.

Circuit clerks’ offices across the state will be open that day, a Saturday, from 8 a.m. until noon.

If you register to vote by mail-in form, it must be postmarked no later than Sunday, Oct. 7. But since many post offices do not handle mail that day, clerks recommend you get it postmarked on Oct. 6 to avoid missing the deadline.

Many circuit clerks’ offices also will be open 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. the week of Oct. 1-5 for voter registration.

If you’re interested in voting absentee, Nov. 3 at noon is the deadline to do so in your clerk’s office.

Mailed absentee ballots must be received by Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. for the state general election. Mailed absentee ballots received by 7 p.m. on Nov. 6 will be valid only for the presidential election.
