TUPELO – A 28-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and accused of dragging him using a car.

Reegan Blunt is charged in the incident that took place on Wilson Street about 1:45 a.m. on Thursday.

According to Tupelo Police, their units were serving as backup, to a Mississippi Highway Patrol unit pursuing a vehicle that was failing to yield. Units were able to get the vehicle stopped around the Wilson street area.

A Tupelo police officer, during the stop attempt, was dragged by the vehicle, driven by Blunt, about 20 yards.

The Tupelo police officer was not injured and did not require medical attention.

Blunt reportedly also had an unrestrained 16-month-old child in the vehicle. She is scheduled to be arraigned today. MHP also will have charges on Blount.
