Haskell gala to bring stars to Amory stage

AMORY - A celebration of native Sam Haskell is set for May 16 with release of his memoir, "Promises I Made My Mother."

Grammy-nominated artist Michael Feinstein will headline the 7 p.m. gala concert at the Amory High School Auditorium. Proceeds will benefit the Mary Kirkpatrick Haskell Scholarship Foundation.

Joining Feinstein will be:

n Emmy Award-winning actresses Debbie Allen, Doris Roberts, Lucie Arnaz and Sela Ward.

n Miss America 2009 Katie Stam.

n Black Ewing, star of The Little Rascals, Full House and Broadway's Ragtime actor-singer.

n Mary Donnelly Haskell, recording artist/actress and former Miss Mississippi Mary Donnelly Haskell.

n Jill Conner Browne, best selling author of "The Sweet Potato Queen" series.

n Christine Kozlowski, Miss Mississippi 2008.

n Mary Lane Haskell, singer-actress and a student at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

n Amory High School cast of "The Wiz."

Haskell's memoir chronicles his life as a child in Amory and follows him through his college years at The University of Mississippi, his 26-year career at the William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills, Calif., and beyond.
