GLEN - Glen's recently installed tornado siren is expected to be tested on Saturday after power is switched on this week.

The tower was set up last week on property with the town hall, fire department and emergency shelter.

After officials were unable to acquire a grant to purchase a siren for the town of 300 residents, aldermen voted to buy the siren with about $20,000 from the town's general fund.

Glen was the last town in Alcorn County without a siren, said Mayor John Little, and residents felt buying the safety equipment was a priority.
