AMORY - The Ladies Community Bible Study group held their sixth women's conference Feb. 27-28 at First Baptist Church of Amory.

The speaker for the event was Rita Sweatt of Amory. Sweatt not only speaks to local churches and groups, but has traveled out of state.

There were 600 or more who attended the conference. Many of the attendees were from a 50-mile radius of Amory, but some were from so far away they stayed in local motels. There were people from South Carolina, New Orleans, Alabama, and South Mississippi.

The event started Friday evening with Sweatt doing a monologue as Ruth, and ended on Saturday morning with a Bible study on the Book of Ruth.

For an event this size to be held in Amory, it took many months, weeks, and days of preparation. From the kitchen to the decorating, ladies in the Bible study group and others in town pitched in to help make the event possible.

Recipes for the women's conference will be featured in the March 18 food column.
