OXFORD - A Texas man pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing federal disaster money for damage to a Houston house.

James W. Pulliam, 62, of Mansfield, Texas, admitted that he lied when he applied to FEMA for assistance to a house damaged by spring 2011 storms.

He claimed the Chickasaw County house was his primary residence, when it was not. FEMA offers financial help only for primary residences.

Thursday, he pleaded guilty to one count punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
