BOONEVILLE – Charles Burleson will spend life in prison without parole after a Prentiss County jury took two hours to decide his guilt in the capital murder of Stephen Holley.

Judge James L. Roberts Jr. presided over the five-day trial and sentenced him a few hours after the verdict was returned.

Holley died May 15, 2010, after being struck in the head with a pipe or piece of metal, the government said in its indictment.

The murder charge became capital murder when it was coupled with a robbery of Holley.

Prosecutors said Burleson and a co-defendant, who has not been tried yet, also stole Holley's cash, wallet, driver's license, flat screen TV, a DVD player, cell phone and electric cordless drill.

Roberts also tacked on 10 years to the murder sentence for a parole revocation.
