A bullet went through a wall where the show was being held at the Tupelo Furniture Market 5, and fragments struck the child, who was entering the show with his father, officials said. Another piece grazed a man on the leg. The child was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center. The child was taken by ambulance and the man drove himself to NMMC. Neither injury was life threatening, according to law enforcement. No names were released.
Tupelo Police Lt. Trey Weaver said the incident is under investigation, but preliminary investigation shows it was an accident. No charges are expected at this time.
"This is not normal. They do a very good job at this show of making sure weapons are unloaded," Weaver said.
