CORINTH — A Corinth woman faces charges after allegedly assaulting a woman with a hammer.

The Daily Corinthian reports the Corinth Police Department booked Jeanette Ieshia Coker, 39, on Oct. 5 with aggravated assault.

The victim, Jessica Lowery, 29, was flown to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for treatment.

Police Chief David Lancaster said officers found Lowery lying in a driveway surrounded by blood from an apparent head wound.

Lancaster said bystanders told investigators Lowery had been struck in the head with a hammer.

Coker was taken into custody a short time later.

Lancaster did not know the nature of the dispute between the women.
