TUPELO - A Tupelo man died from injuries sustained in a shooting Friday afternoon and another man is charged with murder.

Everette Foster, 48, of Tupelo, was pronounced dead around 4 p.m. Friday, shortly after arriving at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green said Foster died from multiple gunshot wounds. Foster was shot around 3:30 p.m. at 309 S. Canal St. in east Tupelo.

Charged with murder in connection with the case is 43-year-old James Thomas Williams Jr.

Tupelo Police Chief Tony Carleton said Williams was taken into custody after the shooting on Friday. Carleton said more details will be released as the investigation unfolds.

Carleton said on Friday the shooting appears to have followed a domestic disturbance, but it is too early in the investigation to be sure.

Michael Best, who lives down the street, said the shooting happened at his cousin's mother's house. He spoke with his cousin earlier in the day who said there was a commotion at the home.

Best said he wasn't sure if his cousin was involved or what happened after that.
