COLUMBUS — Mississippi University for Women students who either commute or find on campus parking challenging are being asked if they would support a new transit system.

WTVA-TV reports that MUW officials have been surveying students, faculty and staff about the proposal.

A decision by MUW officials is expected sometime within the next month or two.

Sirena Cantrell, MUW's director of community living, says the school is looking to partner with Lawrence Transit System and the city of Columbus.

The Lawrence, Ind., bus company and the city recently agreed on a plan to bring in three buses for the start of a local public transportation service.
