TUPELO - A $1 million bond was set Monday for the suspect in Friday's shooting on South Canal Street in Tupelo.

James Thomas Williams Jr., 43, of Tupelo, was charged with murdering Everette Foster, 48, of Tupelo.

Police responded to a shots fire call on South Canal Street at 3:30 p.m. Friday. When they arrived the found Foster shot multiple times laying near the front steps of the house at 309 S. Canal St.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green said Foster died from his wounds shortly after arriving at the North Mississippi Medical Center around 4 p.m. Friday.

Williams was taken into custody at the scene and charged Saturday afternoon.
