WEST POINT – Lois Pauline White Johnson, 88, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. She was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Tupelo to Annie Laurie Raburn and James W. White. She was a seamstress-clerk at Reed’s Department Store Tupelo for many years. She was a member of West End Baptist Church. She married Johnny Purvis Johnson on Dec. 3, 1945, in West Point. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1970.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with Bro. Jerome Key officiating, and the Rev. Andy Parrish assisting. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryel J. McKee (Floyd) of Pheba and Susan J. Plunkett (Wayne) of West Point; five grandchildren, Toby McKee (Laura), Patrick McKee (Heather), Bridgett Harding (Chris), Candy Adams (Jason) and Shasta Plunkett (Rebecca); 19 great-grandchildren; Cody, Joseph Josiah, Carlisle, Luke, Maxx, Jessica, Josie, Cayden Grace, Emma, Anna, Sophie, Sara Jewel, Breeanna, Kellis, Reagan, Harley Kate, Hannah and Evan; her sisters-in-law, Wilma White of Tupelo, Mary Ellen Babb of Umatilla, Fla., and Frankie Rinehart of Ridgeland; and brothers-in-law, Douglas Johnson (Mae) and Marion Johnson, both of Mt. Dora, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Cody White.
Pallbearers will be Toby McKee, Shasta Plunkett, Patrick McKee, Chris Harding, Jason Adams and Robby Wooten.
Honorary pallbearers will be staff of Dugan Memorial Home and staff of North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.

TUPELO – Frances L. Cummings Curbow, 77, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, after a sudden illness. She was born Oct. 2, 1935, in Fulton to Douglas and Lizzie Marie Cummings. She was the manager of Lawhon School cafeteria for many years and later worked with her family at Satellite Vision. When her sons were young, she volunteered a number of years as a Cub Scout leader. Along with her husband, she was active in Tupelo High School Band Parents Association while her children were in the band program. She was an active and longtime member of East Heights Baptist Church where she had taught both Sunday school and Training Union, sang in the church choir, and was active with the Church Youth Department. Many young people of the church fondly remember her helping with the refreshments for East Heights’ Vacation Bible Schools which she faithfully did since 1964. She and her husband volunteered with Central Hills Baptist Retreat RA Camp each summer for a number of years and also helped with Ridgecrest Baptist Conference Center. She and her husband were members of Campers on Mission through Mississippi Baptist Building and Building for Christ through Lee County Baptist Association, and had participated in a number of church building mission trips. She also had been a member of Tator Hills Sams Club camping group. She loved crafts and painting. She was an amazing woman who touched the lives of many children.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at East Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Brown and the Rev. Tim Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Hoyt C. “Buddy” Curbow; two sons, Rusty Curbow (Rachel) of Tupelo and Jeff Curbow (Robin) of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Riley and Robby Curbow and Michael Tucker; and two great-grandchildren, Quinton and Marissa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

OXFORD – Leila Russ Cassidy, 102, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She born in New Orleans, La. She was an artist, and a member of DAR and First Presbyterian Church of Oxford. Through her church in Port Arthur, Texas, she helped organize and cook meals for those less fortunate, a program now known as Meals on Wheels. She started a wild flower sanctuary at William Bernhan Arboretum and Park in Long Beach. She was a volunteer for Campfire Girls in Bogalusa, La., and Port Arthur.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Semmes and the Rev. Ann Kelly officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Bogalusa, La. Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. Friday at the church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Helen Cassidy of Oxford; a sister, Carrie Russ of Long Beach; two grandchildren, Sean C. Sullivan (Jennifer) and Michael P. Sullivan; and one great-grandchild, Aidan Thomas Sullivan.

TUPELO – Edward Booth Gillenwater III, 37, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012. He was born Oct. 18, 1974, in Meridian to Edward Booth and Virginia Laird Gillenwater. He loved spending time with his children and friends. He also enjoyed music, fishing and playing pool.

GOLDEN – Robert Wayne Pruitt, 49, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in Saltillo. He was born Sept. 19, 1963, to Gene and Susie Timmons Pruitt. He was a member of Life Unlimited Church for more than 40 years. He worked in the logging business for the past 30 years and was an employee of Tiffin Motor Homes. He enjoyed music, singing and working in the yard.

Allison (Jana), all of Golden; one brother, Terry Joe Pruitt (Linda) of Golden; one sister, Sherry Tate (Bobby) of Golden; and 11 grandchildren.

Gates, all of Ripley; and eight grandchildren.

NETTLETON – Everette Ray Foster, 48, died suddenly Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Sept. 22, 1964, in Vardaman to Daniel Ray Foster and Virginia Faye Tedder Gray. He had resided in Nettleton for the past 10 years. He was a mechanic for Coley Trucking in Tupelo for 35 years and a self-employed mechanic. He was a Baptist. He enjoyed going fishing and hunting.
Survivors include one son, Everette Ray “Cody” Foster; his parents, Daniel Ray Foster (Sandra) of Gray, La., and Virginia Faye tedder Gray of Nettleton; two sisters, Mary Foster Helms of Tupelo and Teresa Gail Foster Dennett (Robert) of Cadiz, Ky.; one stepsister, Sandra Harris (Scooter) of Houma, La.; and four stepbrothers, Henry “Tookie” Stein (Amy) of Houma, La., Halbert Stein (Melissa) of Choctaw, La., Hank Stein (Patty) of South Carolina and Hervey Stein (Maria) of Gray, La.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Faye Foster and Patricia Ann Cox.
