STARKVILLE — None of the four Oktibbeha County entities supposed to join a regional economic development group have signed contracts to move forward.

Those delays could stall the formation of the Golden Triangle Regional Development Authority, the group proposed to take over industry-hunting in Clay, Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties, reports The Commercial Dispatch.

Tuesday, the Starkville Board of Aldermen tabled a two-year interim contract between Columbus-Lowndes Development Link and the city, county, and two existing development groups.

More than one alderman seemed to have reservations.

If signing is delayed until November, hiring an economic developer by the end of January may not be possible.

Supervisor Marvel Howard says his board will sign at its next meeting.

Contracts call for Oktibbeha entities to collectively give $350,000 a year to the new coalition.
