An 11-year-old boy died when a column of concrete blocks fell on him at the Huddle House on Veterans Boulevard in Tupelo.

Lorenzo Washington, of Tupelo, was playing near some concrete blocks outside the Huddle House, where his mother worked, when the blocks fell and crushed him, said Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green.

While an autopsy hasn’t been conducted, it appeared Washington broke his neck in the accident, Green said, and his death is being ruled as accidental.

The accident happened at about 3 p.m. Sunday.
