SEC names Murray, Minter, Christy players of week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray and LSU linebacker Kevin Minter are the Southeastern Conference's offensive and defensive players of the week.

The SEC also awarded Florida punter Kyle Christy special teams honors on Monday.

Murray completed 30 of 38 passes for a career-high 427 yards and four touchdowns in a win at Kentucky. He set the school record for completion percentage.

Minter led the Tigers with 12 tackles, including a sack, and had an interception in LSU's win at Texas A&M.

Christy averaged a Florida single-game record 54.3 yards on seven punts in a win over South Carolina.

Vanderbilt center Joe Townsend is offensive lineman of the week and Texas A&M end Damontre Moore received recognition on the defensive line.

Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper is freshman of the week.
