Card swipers previously used in the Tax Collector’s Office malfunctioned earlier this year, double-charging some customers, and use of the scanners was discontinued. Tax Assessor/Collector Sylvia Baker said new service with Norcross, Ga.-based Official Payments probably will begin Jan. 2, 2013.
The online credit/debit option was not interrupted, Baker said. Taxpayers can access that option through www.lafayettecoms.com.
