The College Board Thursday approved naming the residence hall for Lucian Minor, a 1937 graduate. He and his wife recently gave $5.2 million to the university's Patterson School of Accountancy, adding to earlier support
In documents submitted to the College Board, accounting Dean Mark Wilder called the Minors "cornerstones" of the school's rise to national prominence. Earlier donations are used for scholarships and faculty recruitment and retention.
Minor is a native of Macon, Miss. He founded his own accounting firm in Memphis, Tenn., after World War II, eventually merging it with a predecessor of national firm Ernst & Young. Minor headed the Memphis office until he retired in 1978.
