The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/TT8DrE ) the ordinance approved Monday night takes effect Dec. 19.
The ordinance says it shall be unlawful for any person to discharge a firearm in an area the person knows or should know is within the boundaries of any County Greenway or County Park, or intentionally discharge a firearm in a manner reasonably likely to cause a projectile to cross any part of a greenway or park.
Under the exemptions section, the supervisors may approve weapons discharge "for any special event," such as a shooting class or archery exhibition.
