BancorpSouth Arena open for ice skaters this weekend

Work off turkey and dressing this weekend with a bit of ice skating.

The BancorpSouth Arena will be open for ice skaters Friday-Sunday from 1-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. each day.

Admission is $8 per skater, and that includes skate rental. There are also skating passes available for $60, and that covers 10 sessions or 10 people.

Ballard Park to glow

with Christmas lights


The annual lighting of Ballard Park is Monday at 6 p.m. at the Ballard Park Gazebo.

The Oren Dunn Museum will also host its open house.

Thomas Street Elementary School Choir will perform. There will be train rides with the admission cost of one canned good per person, with the canned goods being donated to a local food pantry.

Tupelo filmmakers to premiere second film in documentary series

Filmmakers Peggy “PJ” Hatchet and Brandy “S” Alexander will release their second in a series of documentary films, “From the Ashes,” about Tupelo’s North Side neighborhoods, this weekend.

The film screenings will be at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the C.C. Augustus Center on Green Street in Tupelo.
