James D. Rollins named new BancorpSouth CEO

Tupelo-based BancorpSouth Inc., the bank holding company and parent of BancorpSouth Bank, has named a new chief executive officer to replace the retiring Aubrey Patterson. He’ll officially begin Wednesday.

The new CEO is James D. Rollins, who was president and chief operating officer of Prosperity Bank of Houston, Texas.

Patterson, who was appointed president and CEO in 1990 and, in 1991, was named chairman and CEO. He’ll remain as BancorpSouth’s chairman.

Rollins also joins BancorpSouth’s board of directors.
