Delta spokesman Anthony Black told The Commercial Appeal on Monday that those flights being dropped weren't profitable because passenger demand was slack.
He said Delta will reduce the frequency of flights between Memphis and airports in Nashville; Knoxville; Jackson, Miss.; and Birmingham, Ala., early next year. The carrier will also cease nonstop service from Memphis to Jacksonville, Fla. and Birmingham.
Black said the number of daily departures from Memphis will fall from 115 to 94 on Jan. 3.
Delta has steadily reduced its flights at Memphis since a 2008 merger with Northwest Airlines.
