ABERDEEN – Terry Tyrone Blunt of Grenada was sentenced Wednesday to 71 months in prison for his guilty plea to a federal firearms violation in Lee County.

Blunt, 43, was indicted Jan. 18 on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He pleaded guilty last July and avoided possible conviction at trial, which could have resulted in a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 or both.

Blunt also forfeited a .38-caliber revolver. Chief U.S. District Judge

Michael P. Mills also ordered him to serve three years supervised release after his prison term.
