Bassfield tops Eupora 35-0 for MHSAA 2A title

JACKSON — Jerome Keys rushed for 150 yards on 18 carries to guide Bassfield over Eupora 35-0 to claim the MHSAA Class 2A state championship Friday, the fifth state title in Bassfield's history.

Bassfield becomes the eighth program to win five or more state titles in Mississippi prep football history.

Trodrick Daniels rushed for 138 yards and Rod Williams ran for another 117. Daniels scored on a 72-yard run to open the third quarter and Williams scored on a 65-yard run for the first touchdown of the game for the Yellowjackets (16-0).

Jomez Applewhite threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jeffrey Smith for Bassfield.

The Yellowjackets held Eupora to 46 yards of total offense and only two first downs, both in the first half.

Eupora finished the season 14-2.
