CORINTH — Timber Products Co. has paid a $47,000 civil fine for failing to conduct required environmental tests.

The company, based in Springfield, Ore., agreed in October to pay the fine to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

An order published by the department says the company failed to test for emissions from a saw and a sander for at least four years after being issued air pollution permits in 2007.

The 50-employee mill also failed to maintain records of equipment inspections and stormwater inspections and was late in applying to renew its permit.

Of the fine, $3,000 will go back to the company so it can develop an environmental management system.
