Gurley said the accident took place a 5:57 p.m. Saturday on Highway 8 East near Greenwood Springs Road just northeast of the Westville Community in Monroe County.
Albert Welsey Hall was the driver of a mini van that was going east when he lost control and ran off roadway, according to a press release. He was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo where he later died at 9:34PM Saturday night. Cause of death is multiple trauma. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Gurley said Hall's 7-year-old son was a passenger in the vehicle and was airlifted to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. The 7-year-olds condition is unknown. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The accident is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
