BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the year while the Aggies' Kevin Sumlin shared coaching honors.

SEC coaches also named South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney as the top defensive player on Wednesday and awarded Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis and South Carolina return man Ace Sanders co-special teams honors.

Florida's Will Muschamp split the coaching award.

Alabama center Barrett Jones is the top scholar-athlete and Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy.

Manziel is the Heisman Trophy frontrunner after topping 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards.

Clowney set South Carolina records with 13 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss.

Sanders led the SEC with a 14.5-yard average of punt returns. Sturgis is tied for third in the nation in field goals.
