OXFORD – Ole Miss junior college transfer forward Jason Carter has been dismissed from the team without ever playing a game, Rebels coach Andy Kennedy announced on Friday.

Carter, who spent a year at Alabama before transferring to Chipola Junior College, began the season suspended by Kennedy, and his status never changed.

Kennedy had hoped the 6-foot-8 Carter would provide depth for the Rebels' experienced frontcourt and would create a matchup problem for opposing defenses with his ability to step outside and shoot the 3-pointer.

Carter was ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 107 national recruit after his

senior high school season.

A school news release said he was dismissed for “a violation of team rules.”
